Faculty of English Language (FEL) Student Journey

FEL Student Journey at Lac Hong University is a comprehensive four-year roadmap designed to take students from foundational English skills to professional mastery and career readiness. This journey is divided into eight terms, aligned with the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) levels.

Year 1: Building Foundations (CEFR A2 to A2+)

  • Term 1 (A2 Level): Students begin with core language skills, including Listening, Reading, Speaking, and Writing 1, alongside Grammar and Pronunciation. Essential "Study Skills" are introduced to help students adapt to university-level learning.

  • Term 2 (A2+ Level): The curriculum progresses to level 2 for all core skills. Students continue to strengthen their linguistic base with more advanced Grammar and Pronunciation 2.

Year 2: Academic & Personal Development (CEFR B1 to B1+)

  • Term 3 (B1 Level): Focuses on "Presentation Skills" and level 3 of core language subjects. This term often includes industry tours and masterclasses to broaden perspectives.

  • Term 4 (B1+ Level): A pivotal term where students are introduced to Digital Skills, Morphology, and IELTS Writing readiness. This stage marks the transition from general English to more academic and technical applications.

Year 3: Professional Specialization (CEFR B2 Level)

  • Term 5: Students dive into specialized subjects such as Syntax, Business Speaking 2, and Business Writing 1. They can also choose Elective Courses such as Western Culture, Identity, or English for Foreign Trade/Business Management.
